I'm leaving, but where to?

Inscription Tablet Temple Jerusalem (Cast of a Stone Tablet)

1st century BC – c. 70 AD (original)

Plaster, painted

Landesmuseum Württemberg, Stuttgart, Inv.-Nr. RL Kopie - Jerusalem

"No foreigner may step beyond the barrier and the enclosure around the sanctuary. Whoever is caught doing so bears responsibility for the death that follows."

Paul ignores this warning of the death penalty and, at the end of his third missionary journey, leads a non-Jew into the Temple in Jerusalem. He is arrested for this.

The original of this warning plaque once hung at the Temple in Jerusalem. It dates from the time of Paul and sheds light on the events surrounding his arrest.
