CHAPTER 6 – MY LEGACY
How do we know all this about Paul? His original letters have been lost. But we have early copies, which are the oldest textual sources of the New Testament. They tell of journeys and theological debates. But which texts are missing? Who copied them, selected them and recognised them as part of the biblical text? And how do texts endure over centuries across different languages and cultures?
In the Acts of the Apostles, the early Christians are described as ‘followers of the Way’ (Acts 9:2). Faith is not a static adherence, but an ongoing search and development. In a changing world, the Gospel can only be passed on in creative ways. Stories are told in different ways, even today. Our focus shifts from ancient fragments and altered sources to contemporary perspectives. These bring the subject to life.
Let us follow the clues and question the meanings. We will not find all the answers, but we may continue on this enriching and ever-renewing quest.
