The significance of both Paul and Liudger for the history of the cathedral is reflected in the window design by the French artist Max Ingrand. In his 1955 design, Ingrand arranges the two figures essential to the founding of the diocese and the history of the cathedral at the side of Jesus: Paul (with sword) and Liudger (with a model of a church).

Ingrand was originally commissioned only for the large window on the west side of the cathedral ("God's rotary dial"), which replaced the cathedral's west portal—destroyed during the war. He later also executed the windows in the east choir. The color scheme, featuring broad areas of red and white tones, creates a visual harmony among all three.
