I'm leaving, but where to?

Phoebe with Paul

1534

Bibelmuseum der Universität Münster, Dauerleihgabe

Phoebe is described in the Letter to the Romans as a deaconess and supporter of the early Christians in Corinth (Rom 16:1-2). This shows that women played an equal role in the early Church. In research, Phoebe is sometimes seen as a patron or presider. She may also be the bearer of the Letter to the Romans, as this illustration depicts.
