For nearly 200 years, the Cathedral Chapter of Münster published an annual calendar featuring coats of arms. The coats of arms of the canons form the outer ring. Key dates and feast days are listed in three columns within this ring. The block of text is surmounted by figures of saints surrounding the coat of arms of the incumbent bishop. They all played a role in the establishment of the Diocese of Münster: Paul is said to have planted the diocese (*plantavit*), Liudger to have fostered its growth (*propagavit*), the Saints Ewald to have watered it (*rigarunt*), and Charlemagne to have finally founded it (*fundavit*).
